A local company has begun reconstruction on the historic King Faisal II bridge.

The bridge connects East and West Mosul and is known as King Faisal II Bridge as it was built by him in 1955 and opened in April 1958. It was renamed after the 1958 coup d’etat to Al-Hurriya. the Bridge was heavily damaged by an airstrike during the battle to retake Mosul from ISIS in 2017.

The rebuilding of the bridge will speed up recovery efforts and the return of residents to their homes.
